Brand/Model Summary
The Willys CJ-5 (after 1964 Jeep CJ-5) had a significant production run between 1955 and 1983. It was introduced by the brands new corporate owner, Kaiser. The 1972 model year brought significant changes after Kaiser was sold to American Motors Corporation (AMC). AMC began fitting their own engines which required changes to body and chassis. It stayed in production even while three newer models appeared.
Vehicle Summary
With just over 30k miles, this Jeep CJ-5 Levi’s Edition is finished in red over tan vinyl and is powered by a 304ci V8 mated to a three-speed manual transmission and dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a tan Whitco soft top with matching doors in addition to Renegade and Levi’s decals. The truck was a family-owned vehicle and is NOT numbers matching, but is a clean example. This CJ-5 is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, several spare and original parts, and recently serviced at Jeep Masters in Austin, TX. The engine firewall was replaced at some point from a 1981 CJ-7 and has been used on the title as the original vin faded over time. The title will show as a 1981 CJ-7, however Jeep Masters confirmed that the rest of the car is representative of the 1977 Jeep CJ-5 Levi’s edition.
Features
This Jeep is a fine example of the Levi’s edition with the interior in like new condition and paint in decent condition for it’s age. The underbody shows no sign of rust except for some surface rust that is typical for the age of the vehicle. This is one of the cleanest examples I’ve seen in a long time!
